I've been scanning the used car ads on Dubizzle for weeks now trying to find something for my wife that's a little nicer than our old beat up Pajero and I came across a 2017 Evoque over in Mussafah that looks clean in the photos and the seller seems like a decent guy but it's got just over 110k on the clock and I know these things have a bit of a reputation for timing chain issues and electrical gremlins once they hit a certain age and I'm honestly not mechanically savvy enough to spot a coolant leak or a failing PTU just by looking under the hood with a flashlight, a buddy of mine who works in oil and gas over near the Corniche told me I'd be crazy to buy any used Land Rover here without having someone who actually knows these trucks put it on a lift and scan all the modules because apparently the desert heat and humidity do a number on the vacuum lines and suspension bushings that you just can't see from the driver's seat, I was up late last night trying to figure out if there's a shop in Abu Dhabi that specializes in JLR products rather than just a generic garage that'll plug in a cheap scanner and tell me the airbag light isn't on so it must be fine, and I ended up on a page like https://exoticautoservices.ae/land-rover... which at least gave me a better idea of what a proper inspection on one of these should actually cover, so now I'm just trying to figure out if it's worth dragging the seller across town to get it checked out or if I should just keep looking for something with a cleaner history and fewer question marks hanging over the engine bay.
