My 2016 Range Rover Supercharged has started making that dreaded rattling noise on cold starts that lasts for maybe two or three seconds then goes away completely. I know enough about these engines to recognize that it's likely the timing chain tensioners starting to go, which is apparently a known issue on the 5.0 V8. The noise disappears once oil pressure builds up and the car drives perfectly fine otherwise, no loss of power or strange sounds while running. I'm trying to figure out how urgently I need to address this, some people online say they've driven for years with the startup rattle while others claim the chain can jump a tooth any moment and destroy the engine. Before I book an appointment I'd really like to hear from someone who's been through this repair, how long did it take and was the engine out or can they do it with the engine in the car? The quotes I've seen online for this job vary wildly from 8k to over 20k dirhams depending on what all gets replaced while they're in there, I want to make sure I'm getting a fair price but also that the work is done properly with genuine parts since this isn't something you want to cheap out on. Also curious if there are any warning signs I should watch for that would indicate it's getting worse and needs immediate attention
